Rural/Metro Fire Department has been providing fire and emergency medical services to Cave Creek residents since 1968.
Rural/Metro operates on an individual subscription basis with the residents of Cave Creek. This means fire protection and emergency medical services are not paid for through taxes and residents are responsible for establishing a fire service account directly with Rural/Metro Fire.
In the Cave Creek area, Rural/Metro has one primary responding fire station, bringing the total in Maricopa County to nine. There are four firefighters on duty at all times, including at least one paramedic.
Rural/Metro Fire crews in the Cave Creek area are led by Fire Chief John Kraetz.
